Deux Ex - Human Revolution

Remember rolling dice with buddies with stacks of books, pizza, and caffinated beverages? No? Perhaps then you remember lan parties leveling with your WoW peeps, or maybe you just like to play solo on your console of choice. Whatever that may be, any form of game, lets talk about it.

So, we rented this game and OMG IS IT FUCKING SHINY.

That aside, its got a really awesome cyberpunk feel. The plot has several levels, I won't say too much as not to spoil it, but in the very beginning of the game, the character goes from being a non cybered individual to a cybered individual. You upgrade the cyberware's capabilities through the course of the game. Its got very much the corps vs gov, augs vs non augs, corporate conspiracy, unethical research, all sorts of awesome history stuff, just.. a really awesome game.

So far this game has been giving me MASSIVE inspiration for Shifters, and is REALLY fun. Especially if you enjoy metal gear-esque gameplay.

Anyone else playing this?

Pre-ordered, beat it within a few days of playing almost non stop on a no kills, no alert, highest difficulty game. It's what I've been waiting for for YEARS. Stealth as fun as MGS, 'questing' as fun as Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines and it's a freakin Deus Ex game.

Now I'm doing a playthrough on the normal difficulty, running and gunning and berzerking my way through the game. Completely different experience.

...and the story, the voice acting, the consequences of actions later on, and how aesthetically appealing/interesting the designers made all the augmentations. The world they built is mind blowing....the gold and black aesthetic helped a lot too, and has infected my phone. It looks so pretty with everything gold and black.

'tis interesting to hear you say that, because I'm doing it the other way around.

I beat the game on normal difficulty with mostly full-on stealth (I had the opportunity to discover the benefits of a fully upgraded 9mm), and soon I'm going to play through on the hardest difficulty and attempt to kill -every- enemy.

Wish me luck!

And on the topic a nice music vid of this game is featuring on the Escapist site on the Miracle of Sound.

The New Black Gold
Music and Lyrics by: Gavin Dunne
Performed by: Miracle of Sound
Video Editing: Justin Clouse
A glaring neon glow illuminates this street
Breathe in these human vapors, sweat and heavy heat
Hi-tech cathedrals rise and fall in great ravines
Colossal steeples to the gods in the machines
Broken body built anew
Spirit lingers, torn in two
Metal fingers grip my heart so cold
Fossil fuels to slavery
Political duplicity
Every great commodity's been sold
Slave to the new black gold, there's a heartbeat under my skin
Search my electric soul for the hidden man within

Your secret science conquers nature's cruel laws
But inside your wires lie a million mortal flaws
Electric sleep I dream inside my honeycomb
I stay alive inside my hive of skin and chrome
Broken body built anew
Spirit lingers, torn in two
Metal fingers grip my heart so cold
Fossil fuels to slavery
Political duplicity
Every great commodity's been sold
Slave to the new black gold, there's a heartbeat under my skin
Search my electric soul for the hidden man within
Slave to the new black gold, there's a heartbeat under my skin
(Broken body built anew)
Search my electric soul for the hidden man within
Spirit lingers torn in two...)
"Why do angels always look like that?"
-Room mate
"God isn't very inventive."
-Me

I've had this game on the back burner since release. So for I've played the introduction up to the first huddle with saving the hostages.

I find it interesting how the newspaper is going to make a comeback in 2052 considering of all the ipads... erm datapads there are in 2027. ( Yes, I know that the original Deus Ex was released over a decade ago. This portrays how far we've gone in reality today with newspapers on the decline along with our perception of the near future of the world as a result of current technology.)
